Early Gold is a University of Saskatchewan pear selected for early ripening. The medium fruit has green to yellow skin with a light blush and crisp fine grained flesh with a mild sweet flavour.
Harvest the fruit while firm in early to mid August. It is suited to fresh eating and light preserves and has good fire blight tolerance compared with many European pears.
