Oxheart Chokecherry Seeds

Oxheart Chokecherry is a seed selection of Prunus virginiana found among Garrington seedlings. It was selected for elongated pointed fruit, long racemes, and a later ripening season. Heavy clusters ripen from deep red to black in late August at Oak Summit Nursery.

The seed has the same elongated form as the fruit. Open pollinated seedlings will vary, but should retain the species' cold hardiness and productivity, with some reproducing the unusual fruit form.
