Korean Long tomato is a slender red paste type associated with Korean market gardens and shared into North American seed circles in the late twentieth century. Fruit are typically four to six inches long with a smooth, tapering cylinder that ends in a slight point, giving it a cleaner outline than the more angular San Marzano strains and a longer profile than common Roma types. The flesh is dense with limited gel, which produces a drier texture useful for cooking but still suitable for fresh slicing. Plants are indeterminate with moderate vigor and tend to yield a steady mid to late season crop rather than a concentrated early flush. In side by side plantings, Korean Long shows reliable shape uniformity and fewer shoulder cracks than other elongated heirlooms of similar size.
