Wild American Black Currant seed collected locally. It's a hardy native berry bush with excellent tasting fruit, different tasting from cultivated black currants . They growing to a mature height of 4-5 ft, and have features lobed green leaves and yellow-green flowers that bloom in spring. The berries were ripe here in early August. The plants grow well in partial shade along trails and in full sun. They're often found in wetlands, along streams, or in wooded areas. It plays an important role in local ecosystems by providing food for birds and small mammals.
