Summercrisp pear was released by the University of Minnesota in 1985. Medium green fruit develops a red blush and is picked in mid August while firm. The fine grained flesh is crisp and mildly sweet at harvest, then softens and sweetens quickly as it ripens.
The upright tree has above average fire blight tolerance. Summercrisp is self fruitful, but another mid season pear can improve yields.
