Laxton's No. 1 is an old English Red Currant bred by Laxton Brothers in the early 1900s. Productive medium sized bushes bear long trusses of bright red berries in mid summer.
The fruit has sharp tart flavour suited to jelly, preserves, and baking. This reliable cropper has remained in European cultivation and heritage collections for generations.
