Garrington is a selected strain of Chokecherry (Prunus virginiana) known for large fruit and vigorous growth. It originated near Garrington, Alberta, and was adopted by the Prairie Farm Rehabilitation Administration as a seed parent for prairie shelterbelt plantings. Because it was maintained through seed, today's plants represent a strain descended from those original plantings rather than a clone of one named plant.

Compared with typical wild chokecherry populations, Garrington seedlings tend to be larger and more productive, with substantial clusters of dark purple fruit. Open-pollinated seedlings will vary while retaining the cold hardiness, productivity, and broad adaptability of the strain.
