Egyptian Walking Onion (Allium × proliferum)

Cold hardy perennial onion that comes back year after year. Plants form clumps of upright hollow leaves that can be harvested like green onions through the season. Instead of flowers, they produce clusters of small bulbils at the top of the stalks. As the stalks bend and touch the ground, the bulbils take root and establish new plants, causing the patch to slowly spread or “walk” across the garden. Easy to grow and very long lived.
