Captivator Gooseberry (Ribes uva-crispa ‘Captivator’)

Captivator Gooseberry is a productive, hardy American and European gooseberry hybrid with nearly thornless stems and sweet, juicy fruit. The compact shrub has arching branches, green lobed leaves, and small bell shaped spring flowers.

The berries ripen in mid to late summer, starting green and maturing to rich pinkish red. They have thin skin and a sweet, mildly tart flavour suited to fresh eating, pies, and jam.

Captivator grows best in full sun and fertile, well drained soil. Its nearly thornless stems make harvest easier, and the compact habit suits edible gardens and smaller landscapes.
