Bunchberry is a low, mat forming groundcover native to North American forests. It produces clusters of bright red berries in late summer that feed birds and small mammals. Small white to greenish flowers appear in late spring among whorls of oval leaves.
Plants spread through cool, moist, acidic soil in partial to full shade and are naturally found in forest understories and along woodland edges.
