Blackdown Black Currant (Ribes nigrum 'Blackdown')

Blackdown is a classic black currant cultivar known for high yields and rich, deep flavour. Its medium to large, glossy black berries ripen in midsummer, typically from late June to early July. Their complex flavour, both sweet and tart, suits fresh eating, juice, jams, jellies, and baking. The berries are also rich in vitamin C and antioxidants.

Blackdown grows best in full sun but tolerates some partial shade. Plant it with other black currant varieties to enhance fruit production.
