Summerred Apple Tree

Summerred is an Ottawa selection from McIntosh crossed with Red Delicious introduced around 1960. Medium slightly oblong fruit nearly covered bright red; flesh is crisp very juicy and mild sweet with low acidity. Early season ripening in late August; best fresh or for early sauce and keeps only into mid fall. Susceptible to scab; benefits from drier climates or spray program.
