Rescue applecrab was developed in Alberta in the 1930s from Siberian crabapple and domestic apple ancestry. Small yellow fruit washed red orange has crisp, fine white flesh with a mild sweet flavour and little bitterness. It is well suited to fresh eating, juice, and jelly.
Fruit ripens in mid to late August and does not store for long. Trees can show moderate susceptibility to scab and fire blight.
