Highbush Cranberry is a shrub native to North America, commonly found in moist woods, along streams, and in swamps. It's not a true cranberry but a Viburnum, related to Nannyberry.  It's an attractive tree with clusters of bright red fruit that are edible but very tart, so better used in jams, jellies, or sauces.

This shrub typically grows 8-12 feet tall and wide, with a rounded, upright form. It features attractive, lobed leaves that resemble those of a maple tree, turning vibrant shades of red and purple in the fall. In late spring to early summer, clusters of small, white flowers bloom, attracting a variety of pollinators.

Highbush Cranberry is very adaptable, thriving in full sun to partial shade and preferring moist, well-drained soils. It is especially useful in naturalized plantings, hedgerows, and for erosion control.
