Yellow Goji (Lycium barbarum 'Yellow') Zone 5
Yellow Goji Berry is a unique variant of the traditional red goji berry, distinguished by its bright yellow-orange fruit. This lesser-known cultivar produces small, oblong berries with a mildly sweet flavor, slightly less tangy than their red counterparts. Packed with antioxidants, vitamins, and amino acids, yellow goji berries offer similar health benefits and can be enjoyed fresh, dried, or in teas and smoothies. The plant itself is hardy and adaptable, growing well in a variety of soils and conditions, including poor, dry sites. It is known to be drought-tolerant once established and can withstand cold winters typical of Zones 5 to 9. Compared to the red goji, the yellow variety is less common but offers a unique twist to gardens or edible landscapes.
