Red Elderberry - Lacy Leaf (Sambucus racemosa)

Red Elderberry propagated from some seedlings with more fine lacy leaves, probably a seedling of 'Lemony Lace'.   An attractive plant with red berries that are good for wildlife. Some people cook with them.  We often prune these plants back to the ground and they can regrow 6-8 ft in a season.  Can reach up to 8-12 feet in height and spread, making it an excellent choice for creating privacy screens, hedges, or naturalized areas in the landscape. Elderberry can have a spreading habit so keep that in mind when planning them in your landscape.
