Aurora Haskap (Lonicera caerulea 'Aurora')
he Aurora Haskap is a popular variety of honeyberry (haskap), specifically bred in Canada for its exceptional fruit quality and hardiness. Developed at the University of Saskatchewan, this cultivar is known for its large, elongated berries with a sweet-tart flavor that has been compared to a mix of blueberry, raspberry, and black currant. The berries are excellent for fresh eating, as well as for use in jams, jellies, baking, and smoothies.
Aurora is a vigorous shrub, reaching about 4-6 feet in height and width, with an upright growth habit. The fruit begins to ripen in early summer, generally a week or two later than other varieties like ‘Tundra’ or ‘Borealis'.
