added some bottom heat to a few trays to speed up rooting

Oak Summit Nursery · Southern Manitoba

added some bottom heat to a few trays to speed up rooting, maybe this is a good strategy late in the season. So far this year I’ve had good success without any bottom heat. Our mist propagation started up mid June and will run for a few more weeks, we start to get frosts in early September so that’s a hard limit on getting new plants rooted if they’re going to survive the winter. In the photo is a couple trays of plums going on four weeks. The leaves are healthy and some callous is forming. Some of them did root and those have been potted up. Waiting to see how to rest respond to a second dip in rooting hormone and the heat. This is also how I’m figuring out the strength of iba required, all trial and error and a keeping a log of what worked . #progation
