Wild Rose seeds collected locally in the forest around our tree nursery. Rose woodsii is a medium sized (3-4' tall) native rose species that has pink flowers, small thorns and a spreading form. It grows wild here along forest paths. We collect the rose hips in late fall when they're fully ripe and dry the seeds found inside.
Hardiness Zone: 2
Stratification Required: Seeds require some acid scarification pre-treatment, which we have already done for you. This helps to break down the hard seed coat and improve germination. After you receive the seeds they will require 3 months cold stratification.
Storage: Keeping refrigerated for longer term storage. Seeds can be viable for several years.
Planting instructions: Fall plant into prepared seed beds, or cold stratify in a refrigerator and plant into seedbeds or pots in the spring. Sow 1/4" deep and cover with mulch.
