Wild Licorice (Glycyrrhiza lepidota) collected from native plants in the forest around our nursery (Zone 3b).
It's a hardy perennial plant that grows a few feet tall, and it has woody edible roots with a licorice flavour. The plants have brown pods that are covered with long hooked prickles. They're also a nitrogen fixer.

Scarification: Soak in water for 24 hrs
Stratification Required: none
Storage: Keep dry and cool
Planting instructions: Fall plant into prepared seed beds, or plant in early spring 1/4" deep and mulch. Should germinate within 2-3 weeks.
