Westcot Apricot was developed from Scout and McClure and introduced by Agriculture Canada at Morden, Manitoba, in 1982. It is one of the hardiest named apricots, with reports of wood surviving about -44°C (-48°F). Large golden freestone fruit measures about 3.5 to 4.5 cm, with firm, sweet flesh measured around 18 Brix. Fruit ripens in late summer and is suited to fresh eating and canning.

Westcot has been described as self fertile, but crops improve with another compatible apricot nearby. It blooms slightly before Debbie's Gold, and late spring frost can still damage the early flowers.
