Waneta Plum Tree

The Waneta Plum, a South Dakota introduction, is known for its heavy crops of large red with a yellow base clingstone fruit. These plums, ripening by the end of August, are excellent for fresh eating and preserving (canning). The tree is hardy to zone 3 and grows to about 12 feet in height and 20 feet in width. The plums are red-skinned with yellow flesh, juicy, and suitable for eating and canning. They are particularly noted for their size and sweetness.
