Valiant Grape seed was collected locally in southern Manitoba from vines growing with some isolation from other grape cultivars. Seedlings will be genetically distinct from Valiant, although some may retain similar fruit and cold hardiness.

Valiant is among the hardiest table grapes grown on the prairies. The vigorous vines produce sweet, juicy fruit used for fresh eating, juice, and wine and have shown good resistance to common grape diseases.

How to stratify seed

In the fridge. Put the seed in a bag with a damp medium such as peat moss, vermiculite, sand or coco coir. The medium is only there to hold moisture. Keep the bag in the fridge, above freezing, for the cold period shown, then sow.

Or outside. Sow the seed outdoors in the fall and let winter do the cold period.
