The Toka Plum, also known as Bubblegum Plum, was introduced in 1911 by Niels Hansen in South Dakota. It's a cross between the American Plum (Prunus americana) and the Chinese Plum (Prunus simonii). The fruit is described as small to medium sized, and resembling the taste and aroma of bubblegum.
This is one of a few plums that can grow on its own roots, something we've been experimenting with at our nursery. This year we're offering a limited number in Large Plug size.
Ripens: Late August to September
Zone: 3
