The SnowSweet apple, a relatively new cultivar introduced in 2006, was developed at the University of Minnesota. Known for its unique flavor profile, SnowSweet apples offer a sweet and tangy taste with hints of berry and honey, making them a favorite among apple enthusiasts. These apples are perfect for eating fresh and can also be used in cooking and baking. A distinctive feature of SnowSweet apples is their flesh, which is very slow to oxidize when exposed to air, maintaining its appeal for longer after cutting. The fruit texture is fine and firm to crisp, and the apples have an oblate shape (wider than tall), typically measuring 2.8 to 3.1 inches (7.1-7.9 cm) in size. The color of the apples is predominantly a bronze-red blush, covering 70-85% of the fruit's surface. This cultivar is a cross between Sharon and Connell Red apples, chosen for its high fruit quality and cold hardiness. It is well-suited for colder climates, being cold hardy and disease-resistant, and can be grown in USDA zone 4
