Skiba Plum Tree

Introduced by Evelyn Skiba from Alberta, the Skiba Plum is an intriguing cultivar, originally developed from a store-bought plum. This variety was selected from a batch of seedling after proving to be the most cold hardy. The Skiba Plum can have abundant flowering and typically exhibit a pinky red hue, with the possibility of turning somewhat purple in warmer autumn climates. The fruit can tend to easily fall from the tree when nearing ripeness or under windy conditions. The Skiba Plum is also appreciated for its non-bitter skin. This plum got some attention after being distributed at the Scion exchange in Edmonton.
