Skiba Plum Tree

Skiba Plum was selected by Evelyn Skiba near Boyle, Alberta, from seedlings grown from a store bought plum. It was the hardiest seedling in the group and later gained attention after wood was shared through the Edmonton scion exchange.

The tree bears pink red fruit that may deepen toward purple in warm autumn weather. The skin is not bitter, and ripe fruit can drop readily, especially in wind. Skiba is self sterile and needs a compatible Canada plum, American plum, or Japanese plum nearby for pollination.
