Oxheart Chokecherry is a seed selection of Prunus virginiana found among Garrington seedlings. Its fruit is medium in size, elongated and pointed, ripening from red to black in August at Oak Summit Nursery, later than Garrington's July crop. The racemes are slightly longer than Garrington's.

The seed has the same elongated form as the fruit. Open pollinated seedlings will vary, but should retain the species' cold hardiness and productivity, with some reproducing the unusual fruit form.
