Oregon Champion Gooseberry (Ribes uva-crispa 'Oregon Champion')

Oregon Champion is a mid sized, thorny gooseberry cultivar bred in Oregon in the early 1900s. It is vigorous and productive, with resistance to American gooseberry mildew. The small green berries ripen to soft yellow green and have tangy, sweet flavour suited to fresh eating, jams, jellies, and desserts.

Compared with European gooseberry cultivars, Oregon Champion is described as more adaptable across growing conditions, from partial shade to full sun, and especially suited to cool, moist climates.
