Locally collected seed from old Hawthorns, probably the native Crataegus succulenta the Long-Spined Hawthorn or a similar species, could be hybridized. Photos are from fall 2023 from the trees we collected seed from.
Super cold hardy. Hawthorns are in the rose family and related to apples and pears Native to Canada and the US.
The fruit is edible and can be used to make jams and jellies, the leaves and flowers have been used for tea

Hardiness Zone: 3
Stratification: 1-2 months warm + 3-4 months cold, Hawthorns have deep seed dormancy and can take two warm/cold cycles to germinate
