Fushimi is a sweet Japanese frying pepper from the Kyoto/Fushimi tradition. The long, slender, thin-walled pods are harvested green for tempura, grilling, stir-fry, and fresh cooking, and they ripen red if left on the plant. It has no meaningful heat and is valued for tender texture and mild sweetness. Expect about 65-80 days depending on harvest stage.
Origin and history
Japanese heirloom associated with the Fushimi region of Kyoto; reported grown there since the Edo period.
