European Mountain Ash Seeds
European Mountain Ash Seeds
Pack contains: 100+ seeds
European Mountain Ash (Sorbus aucuparia), also called Rowan, carries large clusters of orange fruit in September. The tart, slightly bitter berries are usually left for wildlife but can also be used for jelly.
This seed was collected locally in Manitoba. Feathery compound leaves and persistent fruit distinguish it from many other small trees. European Mountain Ash can grow larger and carries larger fruit than the related American Mountain Ash.

How to stratify seed
In the fridge. Put the seed in a bag with a damp medium such as peat moss, vermiculite, sand or coco coir. The medium is only there to hold moisture. Keep the bag in the fridge, above freezing, for the cold period shown, then sow.
Or outside. Sow the seed outdoors in the fall and let winter do the cold period.
