European Cranberrybush (Viburnum opulus), also called Guelder Rose, is a deciduous shrub native to Europe, northwestern Africa, and parts of Asia. It reaches 4 to 5 m and has three lobed leaves that turn red purple in fall.

Broad clusters of white flowers open in early summer and support pollinating insects. Bright red fruit follows and remains bitter, although it has been used for jelly. The shrub grows in varied soils and prefers reliable moisture.
