European Cranberrybush (Viburnum opulus), also called Guelder Rose, is a deciduous shrub native to Europe, northwestern Africa, and parts of Asia. It carries bright red fruit that remains bitter but has been used for jelly.

The three lobed leaves turn red purple in fall, and broad white flower clusters support pollinating insects in early summer. The shrub grows in varied soils and favours reliable moisture.
