Cilantro and Coriander are two harvests from the same annual herb. Cilantro refers to the feathery, bright green leaves, which have a fresh, citrusy flavor with a hint of spice. The seeds known as Coriander are small, round, golden-brown seeds with a warm, nutty, and slightly citrusy flavor.
Reaching about 1-2 feet in height, cilantro grows best in full sun to partial shade with well-draining soil. Native to regions spanning southern Europe, North Africa, and southwestern Asia, it has adapted well to gardens across Canada, particularly in spring and fall. Because of its quick growth cycle, it can be succession-planted for a continuous harvest.
