Chuyskaya Sea Buckthorn is a Russian female cultivar selected for heavy crops and fewer thorns than many other Sea Buckthorns. Its bright orange berries have a mild tangy flavour and are used for juice and preserves.
Like other Sea Buckthorns, the shrub fixes nitrogen. A compatible male Sea Buckthorn is required for pollination and fruit production.

Chuyskaya comes from the Lisavenko breeding programme in the Altai region of Siberia. In a trial at Indian Head, Saskatchewan, it flowered around May 11, ripened about 110 days later, and stood close to 13 ft tall after twelve seasons.
