Caragana, also called Siberian Peashrub, is a drought tolerant shrub or small tree with compound leaves, yellow pea like spring flowers, and narrow seed pods.
It fixes nitrogen through its roots and has long been planted across the prairies in shelterbelts, windbreaks, living fences, and erosion control plantings.
