The Black Nanking Cherry is a Prunus hybrid in between a Nanking Cherry (Prunus tomentosa) and the Western Sandcherry (Prunus besseyi), a hybrid bush which grows similar to a the larger Nanking but with black fruit like the Sandcherry. Both of the parents are very cold hardy and fast growing. They need a pollinator to set fruit, best planted with some regular Nanking nearby.
