Battleford is a cold climate apple introduced from North Battleford, Saskatchewan, in 1945. The large fruit has yellow green skin with a dull red flush and fairly crisp, slightly tart flesh.
The apples ripen in late August or early September and are used for sauce, cooking, juice, and fresh eating. They keep moderately well in storage.
