Wild American Hazelnut Seeds (Corylus americana) - 8 Seeds

American Hazelnut (Corylus americana) is a native shrub that produces clusters of small edible nuts inside frilly papery husks. The nuts ripen from late summer into early fall and are also valued by wildlife, especially squirrels.

These seeds came from a wild Manitoba population and were float tested to remove empty nuts; about half of this year's collection was removed. Plants form a dense understory in shade but produce more nuts in full sun.
