Alpine Currant (Ribes alpinum) is a compact deciduous shrub native to central and northern Europe. Its dense rounded form is useful for hedges, foundation plantings, and mixed borders.
Bright green lobed leaves turn soft yellow in fall. Female plants may produce small red summer berries that are generally not considered edible. Alpine Currant is dioecious, so male and female plants are needed for fruit, and it is notably resistant to powdery mildew.
