Green Elf Cherry Plum

Green Elf is a green fruited cherry plum bred by A. J. Porter in Saskatchewan. Its firm green flesh has a mild, slightly tart flavour without the astringency noted in some cherry plums. It is useful fresh and for canning, where the fruit retains its shape.

Prairie Hardy reports a mid August harvest in Alberta. Historical Honeywood notes describe a harvest spread over two to three weeks and fruit dropping when fully ripe. Sources differ on stone separation, describing it as freestone or partly freestone. It needs another compatible plum for pollination.

Our fall plants are grown on American plum rootstock.
