cherry prinsepia bush, Prinsepia sinensis an unusual shrub with tiny hooked thorns hidden in the branches, and a sour fruit with trypophobic seeds. I collected seed from this stand last fall and got it to germinate, it does have a deep dormancy. trying out some softwood cuttings to see how they root. probably a good alternative to barberry, and a larger shrub than a goji, more people should grow this one

Le Prinsepia cerisier est un arbuste caduc inhabituel connu pour ses branches épineuses et ses fruits acidulés rouge vif. Atteignant une hauteur adulte d'environ 2,5 mètres, cet arbuste forme des fourrés denses, ce qui le rend idéal pour abriter la faune ou comme haie naturelle. Les feuilles en forme de lance sont d'un vert brillant, devenant jaunes en automne. Ses petits fruits ressemblant à des cerises ont une saveur d'agrumes distincte et contiennent des graines bosselées et rugueuses. Les fruits peuvent être dégustés avec du sucre ajouté ou transformés en confitures, bien qu'ils constituent également une excellente source de nourriture pour les oiseaux et autres animaux sauvages.
