Canadian raspberry introduced in 1960 by the Morden Research Station in Manitoba. Raspberries are very hardy plants that tolerate cold prairie winters and remain one of the most reliable cultivars for northern gardens. Canes grow 5 or more feet tall and produce heavy crops of medium sized red berries in early summer. Fruit is sweet and aromatic, good for fresh eating, freezing, and preserves. Plants are vigorous and form suckers that spread into rows over time.
Growing raspberry plants from seeds can be a great way to establish a patch, just note that Boyne seedlings are not exactly the same cultivar which would require clonal propagation from runners, since seeds will always have some natural variation, but they're good chance they'll be very similar raspberries with comparable qualities.
