Honeygold Apple Tree

The Honeygold apple is a hybrid variety developed by the University of Minnesota, released in 1969. It is a cross between the Golden Delicious and Haralson apple varieties. Honeygold apples are medium to large in size, with a round conical shape and a bright golden color. They are known for their sweet, honey-like flavor. The skin of the Honeygold apple is smooth, golden-yellow to greenish, with a red-bronze blush. This apple variety is particularly cold-hardy, making it suitable for northern cold areas. It can tolerate temperatures as low as -50 degrees Fahrenheit and is successful in USDA Hardiness Zone 3. The fruit's flavor is somewhat similar to Golden Delicious but is noted to be a bit blander, described by some as "Golden Delicious with honey on it."
